Caught between memories of her father and a life that has to go on, Vivian finds some comfort in the old Dodge and in James, a childhood friend who tends to meet difficult days with an ill-timed joke. Then an unknown number sends her a recording of her father’s voice, and everyday life begins to lose its appearance of normality.

Dreams that are far too precise and small inconsistencies send Vivian looking for an explanation. But where do you begin when you can no longer fully trust your own perception? In The Curator, a science fiction mystery unfolds alongside grief, the closeness of a lifelong friendship, and dry humor that finds its way into even the least appropriate moments.

04The writer

Márcio Leroi

I’m Brazilian, a programmer, and curious about everything technology can change. As I try out tools, build projects, and follow new ideas, I come across questions that eventually turn into stories.

I also have a soft spot for classic cars from the ’60s and ’70s, preferably with a V8 setting the tone for the journey. My writing grows out of technology, the open road, and imagination. Science fiction gives me a way to look at everyday life afresh. The Curator came out of that journey; other stories are still taking shape.
